Purpose
Lake Country Youth Soccer Association (LCYSA) is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where all players, coaches, volunteers, and families feel valued, respected, and supported. Our DEI policy aligns with the principles of Safe Sport, BC Soccer, and the Responsible Coaching Movement, promoting fairness, access, and opportunity for all participants.
Scope
This policy applies to all LCYSA members, including players, coaches, staff, volunteers, parents/guardians, and spectators.
Policy Statements
Diversity: LCYSA values and respects the differences that each person brings, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, religion, and socio-economic background.
Equity: We are committed to ensuring that all individuals have equal access to programs, opportunities, and resources, and that barriers to participation are identified and addressed.
Inclusion: LCYSA fosters an environment where everyone can fully participate and feel welcomed, including players with neurodiversity, disabilities, or other unique needs.
Respect and Safe Sport: All participants are expected to treat each other with respect and uphold the Safe Sport Code of Conduct, including zero tolerance for harassment, bullying, or discrimination.
Education and Awareness: LCYSA provides training and resources for staff, coaches, and volunteers to support inclusive practices and promote understanding of diverse needs.
Accountability: Any member who experiences or observes discrimination, harassment, or exclusion is encouraged to report it through LCYSA’s Safe Sport reporting pathways. Reports will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled confidentially.
Implementation
LCYSA will continually review programs and policies to identify opportunities to improve access and inclusivity.
Coaches and staff will receive ongoing training in inclusive coaching practices and DEI principles.
The Board of Directors is responsible for monitoring compliance and ensuring this policy is embedded across all LCYSA activities.
