Welcome to the 2026 Okanagan Ice Breaker Tournament!
We’re excited to welcome teams back for another great weekend of soccer in Lake Country, April 3–5, 2026! This year marks over 20 years of Ice Breaker tradition — a tournament that’s become a fun and competitive way to kick off the spring season.
As always, please keep in mind that early spring weather in the Okanagan can bring some frosty mornings (and even a bit of ice on the fields!), so pack accordingly and come ready for all conditions.
We encourage early registration, as spots fill quickly each year. Please note that registration is open to complete teams only — individual player registration is not available.
April 3–5, 2026
Hosted by Lake Country Youth Soccer Association (LCYSA)
Boys & Girls:
U10–U12
U13–U18
Note for U13 Teams:
Per BC Soccer/Canada Soccer, U13 will play 9v9 on smaller fields with Standings and playoffs according to Canada Soccer Guidlines for Match Play.
Teams that normally play 11v11 may register in U14 to accommodate larger rosters and familiar gameplay.
If doing so, please register in a lower tier to maintain balanced competition.
NEW to OKIB! We are trying it on for 2026
Note for U10 Teams:
Please note that due to limited field availability, the U10 division for this year’s Okanagan Ice Breaker Tournament is tentative. If field space cannot be secured, this division may need to be cancelled. We appreciate your understanding and will communicate any updates as soon as possible
The Okanagan Ice Breaker is an early-season tournament designed to give teams a great start to the spring season.
We welcome clubs from BC, Alberta, Yukon, Washington, and beyond.
The Okanagan Ice Breaker Tournament does not typically operate with formal divisions (e.g., Tier 1, Tier 2, Gold/Silver) within age groups. Instead, tiering information collected during registration is used solely to assist with scheduling and creating balanced match-ups wherever possible.
Our goal is to provide competitive and enjoyable games for all teams while keeping the tournament structure simple and efficient.
Tiering details help guide game pairings, not placement into separate divisions
Teams within an age group may still play a range of opponents
Final match-ups are based on team numbers, field availability, and overall balance
Most age groups are capped at 8–10 teams, depending on field space and scheduling constraints. In some cases, smaller or combined groupings may be used to ensure all teams receive quality game play.
We appreciate your understanding that early-season tournaments come with unique challenges, and we strive to create the best possible experience for all participants.
We do our best to match teams appropriately based on the information provided.
(Note: If 3 teams U13 and 4 teams U14 register, these 2 age groups could be combined)
Please ensure your team is registered in the correct division.
LCYSA may not be able to move teams after registration.
Teams are accepted on a first-registered, first-paid basis.
Full payment must be received before a team is considered entered.
Confirmation of acceptance will be emailed once registration and payment are complete.
3 game round robin
AGE groups MUST have 4 teams to run
Other formats may be used depending on registration numbers and age groups.
All teams must be registered and in good standing with their provincial or state soccer association.
Teams must be prepared to play on Friday and throughout the weekend.
Typical game times:
First games: 8:00 AM (weather depending)
Last games: 8:00 PM
Game schedules may include:
2 games Friday/Saturday, 1 Sunday, (U13-U18)
1 game Friday, 1 game Saturday, 1 Sunday (U10-U12) (could have 2 games on one day)
LCYSA aims to have all games completed by 4:30pm Sunday, giving early games to out-of-town teams when possible.
We cannot accommodate travel requests, so please plan travel accordingly.
LCYSA reserves the right to combine or modify divisions based on registration numbers.
(Note: U17 and U18 are 1 division)
U13–U18: 1st and 2nd and 3rd place teams in each group will receive awards.
